Microsoft’s Mesh may be more practical, but the BMW ///M Mixed Reality experience actually immerses both drivers and their vehicles in a virtual world. Those attending the Web Summit in Lisbon get to try this M2 experience firsthand, which was developed by a team of BMW M engineers in collaboration with Epic Games.
Put simply, you get to experience driving a BMW while wearing VR/MR glasses and maneuvering challenges at high speeds as in a racing game. There are several integrated gaming elements, including avoiding obstacles and collecting virtual coins to reinforce the immersive in-car experience. This system accounts for all movement and rotary axes of the BMW M2, making the vehicle itself the controller.
