BMW introduces the first-ever 2020 M8 lineup ($133,000+ coupe / $142,000+ convertible), including sleek M8 Competition models ($146,000+) powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 generating 617 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, enabling it to hit 60 mph in just three seconds. For those who like open-top cruising, there’s the standard 600 hp convertible, but without the stiffer springs, 15.5-inch front brakes with six-piston calipers, and optional 15.75-inch carbon ceramic brakes found in the Competition models. The entire M8 lineup features an aggressive fascia, complete with a blacked out kidney grille, revamped rear fascia, 20-inch M-specific wheels, M-spec quad exhaust outlets, and a slim spoiler atop the decklid. There’s also the optional M Carbon Exterior Package, which adds extra carbon fiber into the front air intakes, mirror caps, side gills, and the rear diffuser.
“As you’d expect on an M car, the new M8 offers plenty of customization for both comfort and performance behind the wheel, though there is an emphasis on performance. Various modes for the transmission let the automatic handle all the shifting duties, or turn it over to the driver via paddle shifters behind the wheel. The xDrive AWD system can be dialed in for more all-weather grip or tail happy drift sessions,” reports Motor 1.
