DJI’s first 360-degree action camera, the OSMO 360, is almost here and leaks are getting us excited. It’s launching on July 29, 2025 alongside the DJI Mic 3 wireless microphone and is ready to take on the Insta360 X5 and the upcoming GoPro Max 2.
At the heart of the OSMO 360 is a 1-inch CMOS sensor, signaling DJI is going all out for top-notch image quality. This sensor can do native 120-megapixel output with 2.4µm pixels, promising super sharp and detailed footage especially in low light where 360-degree cameras often struggle. Compared to Insta360 X5 which uses dual 1/1.28″ (*correction) sensors, they are slightly larger but optimized for its 360-degree capture. DJI’s sensor can do 8K video at 30fps for full 360-degree recording, with single lens options at 4K/120fps for 170-degree FOV or 5K/60fps at 155-degrees.

Battery life is a strong point for the OSMO 360. On its own it can last 100 minutes shooting 8K/30fps, but with the DJI Battery Extension Bar it can go up to 180 minutes. This accessory was spotted in leaked images, it doubles as a 1/4-inch threaded mount for attachments and supports wireless charging for the camera. The magnetic design allows for quick setup, super useful for creators working in fast paced environment.
The OSMO 360 has a compact square shape, more like the GoPro Max than the stick-like Insta360 X4 or X5. Leaked images show a dark gray body with dual lenses and a small touchscreen, DJI’s sleek design with rugged functionality.Gesture and voice control allows users to start or stop recording with a wave or a command, perfect for hands-free action shots. Compatibility with Apple Watch and Garmin devices allows settings adjustment from the wrist, a big plus for athletes and adventurers.
The rumored “Adventure Combo” package includes extra batteries, a compact charging station and an invisible selfie stick, for creators on the go. Features like HorizonSteady 360 for stabilization and 10-bit D-Log M for color grading make the Osmo 360 suitable for both casual and professional users.
Price TBA, but leaks say it might be $200 more than Insta360 X5 which is $550 on Amazon. These retail packaging images say “aggressive pricing” to compete with GoPro Max 2 and Insta360 X5, although we don’t know the exact price yet.
