After 5-years in development, Dr Robotnik’s Ring Racers has finally been released. Think of this project as Mario Kart, but with Sonic the Hedgehog characters, built on a modified version of Doom Legacy.
Graphics are a cross between those found on the SEGA Genesis and Super Nintendo Entertainment System, while gameplay includes a Grand Prix mode with CPU drivers as well as a Time Attack mode. That’s not all, fans can also enjoy splitscreen multiplayer for up to four, 16-player online matches using characters like Sonic, Knuckles, Buzz Bomber, Nack the Weasel, and more. Currently, the game can be played on Mac and Windows systems, with support coming soon for Linux / Steam Deck. You can download it here now.
