Now that you’ve seen the air umbrella, it’s time to check out YouTuber I Build Stuff’s flying umbrella. The first prototype took countless hours of planning with the original sketches being hand drawn on paper before they were turned into CAD models.
Let’s just say that the first prototype didn’t go as planned since the ESC exploded, destroying many of the parts. Fortunately, many of those parts were 3D-printed like the motor mounts, so they could easily be recreated, while soldering everything probably took the longest. As for electronics, the flight controller is probably the most important of them all, as it keeps the umbrella stable while in the air. It took many months, but he finally had a working prototype.
