Tevel Autonomous Fruit-Picking Drones HMC Farms
HMC Farms has partnered with Tevel Aerobotics to deploy their autonomous fruit-picking drones that enable fruit harvesting, on-demand. These drones are capable of working tirelessly through the night and can accurately follow any given instructions, thanks to custom vision algorithms to detect fruit, foliage as other objects.

These autonomous fruit-picking drones also make sure of specially developed maneuver algorithms for optimal trajectory planning as well as execution, while balancing algorithms ensure that proper forces are applied on the robot by foliage and fruit. Aside from HMC Farms in California, Tevel Aerobotics plan to launch their drones in Spain and Italy at large apple plantations next year.

The years of work we’ve put into cultivating high density orchards are paying off as we implement technology like Flying Autonomous Robot harvesting. We have successfully harvested peaches, nectarines and multiple colors of plums using drones this summer. This project is still in an early stage, but the future potential is very exciting,” said Drew Ketelsen, Vice President and Farm Manager.
