Last September, Google LLC filed a patent with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) titled “Full-screen display with sub-display camera,” and it was just approved on May 6, 2021. Put simply, the camera sensor and lens are integrated under the screen, while the second OLED panel is placed directly opposite the camera, but also located under the main screen. A prism or mirror is nestled between the camera and the auxiliary display, so when you’re not taking photos, the content displayed on the second screen is reflected through the prism on the main display. Once the camera is activated, the prism rotates to allow the user to take photos or shoot video.
