Many already know that the Half-Life Snow War mod isn’t the latest or greatest, and has in fact been out for nearly two decades now. For those who have never heard of it, when this mod is installed you basically connect to a Snow-War server and given one snowball. To get more, just press the ‘make snowball’ button, limited to a maximum of three unless you find a ballbag power-up.
Interested? Well, now it’s finally being turned into a standalone FPS game, called ‘Half-Life Snow War’. This time, you can not only throw snowballs, but fire them with other power-ups like crossbows. The story is set in the 1980s and can be played online / LAN or offline against bots. The Unreal Engine-powered game has a free-for-all as well as different team fight modes. It’s coming soon to PC, with no word yet on a definitive release date. If you want to experience Half-Life in virtual reality, there’s already Half-Life: Alyx.
