Automotive designer Daniel Kemnitz reveals the hydrogen-powered Alfa Romeo P7 hypercar concept, or his modern take on how their classical heritage would look in 2023. Technical specifications haven’t yet been ironed out, but we assume it would be comparable to the Matador MH2, which makes 600 hp and has a top speed of 155 mph.
Why hydrogen? Kemnitz believes that new vehicles must have either a hydrogen or electric power source, with the former bridging the link between the emotional past as well as the visionary future. Hydrogen fuel cells are essentially made through the REDOX (reduction / oxidation) reaction between hydrogen and oxygen. This process converts the energy into electricity, using hydrogen as the fuel and then combining it with oxygen to produce an electrochemical cell.
