Stellar Pizza, a food truck pizza robot startup, announced today that Marcy Venture Partners, Jay-Z’s venture capital firm, has joined the latest $16.5 million Series A financing round. This startup was founded by ex-SpaeX engineers, led by CEO Benson Tsai, and based around an automated, touchless robot in a large food truck capable of making pizza from scratch, including adding toppings, all in under five minutes.
Once you order a pizza via an app, the machine dispenses a ball of fresh dough from the refrigerator and then presses it into a 12” pie. Next, a homemade sauce and fresh toppings are added before the pie slides into a 900° F oven. After it’s done baking, the machine retrieves it from the oven, cuts it, and then places the pizza in a box. Each truck has the capacity to make up to 420 pizzas in a day, possibly more if the ingredients are refilled. We wouldn’t be surprised to see a Stellar Pizza aboard the International Space Station in the near future, or even on the Moon.
- Rotating tray turns continuously to assure even baking.
- Top and bottom heating elements bake foods from both sides. Heating elements are separately controlled, allowing you to select top, bottom, or both...
- Timer signals end of cooking time and automatically turns off heating elements.
What we’re trying to do is very hard, I needed to recruit the best and the brightest to develop a mobile pizza machine that is basically a spaceship on wheels. I can’t even count the number of pizzas I’ve eaten,” said Benson Tsai, CEO of Stellar Pizza.
