DarkMatter Group unveils the KATIM R01, which is claimed to be “the world’s first ultra-secure smartphone designed to withstand extreme field conditions.” Designed specifically for individuals operating in defense and the emergency services, its full suite of apps is encased in a hardened, tamper-proof shell and boasts a hardened OS with a hardware-based crypto root of trust. To ensure durability, it has passed two separate military level standards for resilience, and can handle being dropped, smashed and even immersed in water for up to 30 minutes.
