Professional race car driver Ken Block takes the new Extreme E electric off-road SUV out for a drive in the last stage of the Dakar Rally. Weighing in at just 3,637-pounds, it features an all-wheel drive system and a total output of 550 horsepower, enabling it to hit 62 mph in just 4.5 seconds. The official Extreme E racing series launches in January, 2021 and will have four stages so far: Brazil, Greenland, Senegal, Saudi Arabia and Nepal.
Extreme E isn’t an official vehicle brand, but rather a competitive platform for accelerating the development of electric vehicles. Plus, it will help create a low-carbon future powered by renewable energy. The platform is committed to supporting and partnering with organizations working to restore the degraded environments in which they race, the precious ecosystems within them and the people who live there.
Dakar is always something I’ve been interested in experiencing so this is a great opportunity for me to come and see what makes the race so special. I appreciate the guys at Extreme E inviting me out,” said Ken Block.
