LEGO Super Mario Starter Course 71360
The LEGO Super Mario (71360) Starter Course hits stores tomorrow, and it’s essentially a real world Super Mario Maker. Simply put, this set comes with an interactive Mario figure that can collect coins in game levels built with LEGO bricks. The figure itself comes equipped with LCD screens in his eyes, mouth and belly to display a wide variety of instant reactions to movement, color and action bricks. Plus, a speaker is included that plays iconic sounds and music from the video game series. Read more for two videos, including a hands-on review, and additional information.

The cool thing about the Starter Course is that it can be combined with LEGO Super Mario Expansion Sets, each of which unlocks unique challenges and characters to play against friends. Some of these expansions include the Piranha Plant Power Slide and the Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle. These are all modular builds, so the LEGO level course possibilities are only limited by your imagination.

With today’s announcement, 16 LEGO Super Mario sets have been introduced and I am really looking forward to seeing how people’s play expands with these and the unique Power-Up Packs. Each player’s preferences and imagination are different. By adding already owned LEGO bricks onto the Starter Course, and different LEGO Super Mario expansion sets, we hope that people can create various different Mario worlds and continue enjoying them indefinitely,” said Takashi Tezuka, Executive Officer and Game Producer of Nintendo Co., Ltd.
