Limited to just 350-units worldwide, the 2020 McLaren 620R is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 engine tuned to 611 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque, which is approximately 49 hp and 14 lb-ft more than the standard 570S, thanks to ECU as well as turbocharger management tweaks. This extra power means the road-legal race car is now capable of accelerating from 0-62 mph in a mere 2.9 seconds. Read more for additional pictures and information.
Since the 620R is based on the 570S GT4 race car, it weighs in at just 2,826-pounds, but the new aerodynamic bits help the acceleration rather than top speed, which means it tops out at 200 mph instead of 204 mph. However, it does get ultra lightweight 19-inch front / 20-inch rear wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero R semi-slick tires, complete with a set of full-slick motorsport-spec tires reserved to the track offering a contact patch 8% larger compared to the road-legal tires. Pricing starts at $299,999 USD and comes with a Pure McLaren Track Day and expert driving tuition at a race circuit.
Each 620R features a dedication plaque on the centre console with numerical identification (1 of 350; 2 of 350, etc). As with every McLaren road car, each 620R can be configured to be distinctively individual. Single elements, for example the colour of the brake calipers, can be chosen as a solus specification; alternatively, buyers can opt for upgrade packs such as the Gloss Finish Visual Carbon Fibre Exterior Pack, which adds visual drama to everything from the side intakes to the door mirror casings,” said the company.
