Aerospace engineer Nick Rehm built what could be the world’s fastest flying R/C drift car, or more specifically, a cleverly disguised drone. It can be piloted with a standard R/C car transmitter, making it super easy to fly around, even for beginners who have no experience with drones.
Rehm fabricated the airframe with a 3D printer, while the electronics are standard off-the-shelf 5″ miniquad parts. If you’re looking to build one at home, just know that any drone flight controller should work for this project since it is just a quadcopter with a pusher prop. More information here on the Github page for the Teensy Flight Controller and Stabilization. For something you can actually ride in, check out this Toyota Supra capable of autonomously drifting.
