There’s the autonomous Toyota Supra, and this Renault R5 Turbo 3E electric drift car. Weighing 3,306-pounds with a 42-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, it features a carbon fiber body and two electric motors generating a combined 375 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque sent to the rear wheels.
The 42-kWh lithium-ion battery pack is located in the center section, underneath the floor of the tubular chassis, and protected by a flat base and shielded by FIA-approved roll bars. When fully charged, it’s good for several laps around a race track or in a parking lot for an exhibition. A full charge takes just 2-hours using a 380V/32A charger. Inside, you’ll find carbon fiber racing seats with safety harnesses, ten digital screens, and an upright handbrake lever. You’ll be able to see it in person at the Chantilly Arts & Elegance 2022 on September 25th and then at the Paris Motor Show starting October 17th.
