Most gamers who grew up in the 80s already know that the NES’s 72-pin cartridge connector is the console’s weak point, but what if there was a way to fix it? Introducing Ninten-Drawer by RockerGaming and BlueShell3D.
What you’ll need to complete this mod is a Ninten-Drawer unit, which comes fully assembled, a 3D-printed name plate that can be customized, and an optional clear NES shell should you want an up-close look at the parts. Installing everything does take some time, as the original console has the be disassembled, including all of the cables. Swapping in a clear shell will take a few extra steps, as all of the hardware has to be carefully removed. Why is the Ninten-Drawer better? Well, the biggest reason is that it can easily be replaced should something break, and the second being magnets that pull the cartridge into place securely.
