Nintendo Super Mario World Widescreen Mod
The Nintendo Switch Lite comes bundled with a 128GB microSD for Prime Day, but you won’t be able to play this widescreen version of Super Mario World on the console. Why? It’s a custom mod by software engineer Vitor Vilela that gives the game a 16:9 resolution by expanding the horizontal resolution to 96 pixels, thus increasing resolution from 256×224 to 352×224, all running on the bsnes-hd emulator. The game currently supports 16:9 and 16:10 monitor resolutions, but more aspect ratios are currently in development, namely the 2:1 and 21:9 ultrawide aspect ratios. However, it does retain the 8:7 pixel aspect ratio from the original SNES Picture Processing Unit, which means gameplay still resembles how you would see it on a TV screen connected to an SNES, but in widescreen.
