Ohio Man 1966 Batmobile Replica
Some prefer the look of Tim Burton’s Batmobile, many other fans would rather have one featured in the 1966-1968 television series. One Ohio man decided to build a 1966 Batmobile replica that appears to be straight from the show, complete with functional guns on each side of the vehicle, a smokescreen, and numerous other buttons.

For those who have never seen the 1960s televisions series and later, its film adaptation, the Batmobile was based one a Lincoln Futurua concept car. This concept car was allegedly built by hand by Ghia Body Works in Turin Italy for $250,000 USD ($2.7-million today) and made its debut at the 1955 Chicago Auto Show in blue white paint. George Barris later acquired this Futura concept and spent three weeks transforming it into the iconic Batmobile at a reported cost of just $30,000, with design work conducted by Herb Grasse, an associate designer for Barris at the time.

Bill Cushenbery was hired for the metal modifications and the trio used the primer-painted, white-striped car in October 1965 in their network presentation reel. Afterwards, the car was repainted a gloss black with fluorescent cerise stripes. George Barris still owned the vehicle at the time and leased it to 20th Century Fox and Greenway Productions for use in the live-action Batman series.
