Oshkosh Defense‘s Next Generation Delivery Vehicle (NGDV) for the USPS has officially entered service in Athens, Georgia. Unlike its predecessor, this model has air conditioning, room for postal carrier to stand up while retrieving packages, air bags, 360° cameras, blind-spot monitoring, collision sensors and most importantly, anti-lock brakes.

There are two variants: gasoline-powered and battery-electric, in either front wheel drive or all wheel drive. The former is powered by a 2.0L Ford EcoBoost engine, mated to an 8F35 8-speed automatic transmission, while the latter gets a Bosch permanent-magnet electric motor.
