Porsche 911 GT3 Manual vs PDK Automatic Drag Racing
Mat and Yianni of CarWow pit the Porsche 911 GT3 manual (Touring Package)) against its PDK automatic transmission counterpart for their latest drag racing showdown. Priced from $161,100 USD, both variants are powered by the same naturally aspirated 4.0L flat-six engine generating 502 hp and 346 lb-ft of torque. Aside from the transmission, the Touring Package is slightly lighter at 3,164-pounds versus the PDK’s 3,222-pounds.

For those unfamiliar with Porsche’s PDK transmission, it was basically designed to provide their vehicles with faster shifts in racing, which in turn translates to quicker lap times. It achieves this by using a specialized dual clutch design, which operates effectively as two gearboxes inside one automatic transmission. However, as you can see, the manual transmission 911 GT3 put up a better fight than most expected, with both variants clocking similar times in the third and final run.
