Samsung hints at a device that promises an “Ultra experience,” but is this the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the next iteration of Samsung’s book-style foldable? Or could it be a premium Galaxy Z Fold Ultra, a new flagship flexing its muscles in the foldable arena? Whatever the case may be, it’s rumored to be revealed at the summer Galaxy Unpacked event.

First, Samsung’s teaser emphasizes a device that’s more than just a spec upgrade. It’s described as blending “artistry and engineering” to elevate everyday interactions, with a focus on bigger screens, better cameras, and AI-driven features tailored for a foldable. This suggests a phone that’s not just powerful but designed to feel intuitive and transformative.

Samsung’s focus on larger screens is a big clue. Leaks suggest the device—likely the Galaxy Z Fold 7—could sport an 8.2-inch main foldable display and a 6.5-inch cover screen, both bigger than the Z Fold 6’s 7.6-inch and 6.3-inch screens. A slimmer profile is also rumored, possibly as thin as 8.2mm when folded, matching the sleekness of Samsung’s non-foldable S25 Ultra.

Cameras are another highlight, as the press release promises “enhanced cameras,” and that could mean a 200-megapixel main sensor, a massive leap from the Z Fold 6’s 50-megapixel camera. This camera could potentially match the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s, suggesting Samsung wants its foldable to compete with traditional flagship phones.

Samsung also hints at “powerful Galaxy AI features designed specifically for the foldable form.” Leaks suggest the device will launch with One UI 8, based on Android 16, offering a smoother, more tailored experience. As for battery life and durability, rumors indicate the device might stick with a 4,400mAh battery, the same as the Z Fold 6, but with faster 45W charging—a step up from 25W.

So, is this the Galaxy Z Fold 7 or a Galaxy Z Fold Ultra? The teaser’s heavy use of “Ultra” suggests two possibilities: either the Z Fold 7 is getting a premium rebrand, or Samsung’s introducing a higher-end model alongside it. Some sources lean toward the former, noting the teaser’s animation resembles the Z Fold 7’s rumored design—wider, thinner, and book-style, not the clamshell Z Flip. Others speculate a separate Ultra model could target enthusiasts willing to pay more for top-tier specs, possibly priced above the Z Fold 7’s expected $1,899 starting point.
