Samsung Electronics filed a 66 page patent with the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) in mid-2021, titled “electronics device comprising flexible display. It was recently approved on January 20, 2022 and from the sketches, we can see a smartphone-like device with a display at the top left flowing to the rear. Flip the device over, and you’ll see that the screen surface extends to directly next to the vertical camera system. Read more to see the patent sketches and for additional renders.
This isn’t a dual display, but rather a single one with a fold out wing of sorts, thanks to a special hinge. To keep the flexible section from accidentally opening up when not in use, there are three magnets to keep things in place. What could you use this extended screen real estate for? In addition to gaming, it would be great for streaming media on-the-go.
