IKEA and Sonos have officially unveiled the SYMFONISK line of WiFi speakers. One model is table lamp, while the other has a bookshelf model that can also be wall mounted, priced at $179 and $99 respectively. Both speakers can be controlled with the Sonos app, and easily integrate directly into the Sonos ecosystem should you have any existing speakers. Or, set them up using Sonos’s TruePlay custom tuning function as bonded stereo pairs or individual mono speakers. Apple’s AirPlay 2 integration enables iOS and MacOS users to stream any audio content directly to the speakers without using the app. Read more for a video, additional pictures and information.

The SYMFONSIK speakers also boast a single Ethernet jack, and if you own a Sonos One or a compatible Amazon Alexa device, you can instruct Sonos to play music through these speakers. Inside the bookshelf speaker, you’ll find two class-D digital amplifiers, a tweeter, and one mid-woofer. The fabric-wrapped table lamp fits any standard E26 LED light bulb, complete with an independent power knob for the socket.

“Sonos has chosen physical buttons over its newer, touch-based controls, but the volume up/down rocker from its earlier products has now been split into two separate buttons. The lamp’s completely enclosed shade is made of mouth-blown glass, and is ‘black toned’ on the charcoal version, and white on the white version. Because of the fully enclosed design, you’re limited to a 7-watt maximum LED bulb — incandescents or CFLs are not supported,” reports Digital Trends.
