Despite the game rendering internally at 8K resolution (7680×4320), the console doesn’t support that output over HDMI 2.1, so the developer resorted to a supersampling technique that downsamples every pixel on any connected 4K TV, resulting 8K output. However, Shin’en mentioned that if Sony were to enable 8K output on a PlayStation 5, they would promptly release a patch allowing The Touryst to display without the downsampling technique on an 8K resolution TV.
