Sony is rumored to be developing a PlayStation Portable handheld console exclusively for streaming cloud games, codenamed ‘Q Lite’. The device will allegedly look like a giant PS5 controller, but with an 8-inch LCD / OLED screen in the center, stereo speakers, adaptive triggers, volume buttons, and a standard 3.5mm audio input jack.
The only possible negative is that the Q Lite might only work with Sony’s PlayStation Remote Play service, which searches for the console you’ve signed in to using your account and then connects to it automatically. Reports have it slated for release before the PlayStation 5 Pro and after Sony’s detachable disc drive in September. Both of those products are allegedly in the PS5 Phase 2 plans, which may also include a wireless headset and earbuds.
