It’s official, the Sony Group Corp is officially launching an electric vehicle company, called Sony Mobility Inc. At CES 2022, they unveiled the Sony VISION-S 02 electric SUV, which uses the same platform as the VISION-S 01 coupe that began public road tests in Europe from December 2020. Safety is its number one priority, as it has sensors installed 360° around the vehicle, including high-sensitivity, high-resolution, wide dynamic range CMOS image sensors and LiDAR sensors.
That’s not all, Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensors help provide monitoring functions for driver authentication as well as watching over passengers and they also support intuitive gesture / voice commands that enhance usability of the car interface. The VISION-S 02 features a new function that allows users to customize the display theme and the acceleration / deceleration sounds of the vehicle. Vehicle settings, key locks, and user settings can be synced by pairing the vehicle to the cloud using mobile communication, including 5G.
