While Elon Musk’s Tesla Roadster is on its way to Mars, the SSC SC-01 electric sports car is ready to take on the all-new second generation model in China. The Small Sports Car (SSC) SC-01 will arrive in 2023, powered by two electric motors in the front and back, generating a combined 429 hp, enabling it to hit 62 mph in a zippy 3.9-seconds.
It weighs in at just 2,866-pounds, making it far lighter than the Tesla Model 3 (3,648-pounds), Chevrolet Bolt (3,589-pounds), Nissan Leaf (3,516-pounds), and even the MINI Cooper SE (3,144-pounds). For comparison purposes, the second generation Tesla Raodster is expected to tip the scales at 4,400-pounds. On a full charge, the SSC SC-01 is expected to have a 310-mile range. Pricing will start at around $42,000 USD when it goes on sale late next year.
