If you’ve always wanted to visit Norway or want to make another trip there, be sure to add the Vøringsfossen bridge to your bucket list. This architectural masterpiece lets you climb over the 535-foot Vøringsfossen waterfall situated high above the idyllic Måbødalen valley. It was designed by architect Carl-Viggo Hølmebakk and seamlessly fuses the natural as well as the man-made.
The bridge in its current state boasts 99 steps and is part of a larger project, which eventually will lead to an accessible footpath and cafe. These steps are only a fraction of the 1,500 required to climb to get to the Fossli Hotel, which was built at the site way back in 1880.

Several conditions have influenced the shape of the bridge. The construction needs to be safe and solid, the bridge needs to connect with the old, historic road and the landscape, and of course emphasise the views and experiences,” said the architect.
