Can a modified Yamaha Banshee really beat a Tesla Model S Plaid in a drag race? Thanks to the team at Hoonigan, we now know the answer. However, on paper, the Tesla Model S Plaid, powered by a three electric motors fed by a series of lithium-ion batteries, appears to be the front runner, since it’s capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 1.99-seconds. The 2004 Yamaha Banshee has been customized to the point that it’s unrecognizable when placed to its unmodified counterpart and that’s because it was designed to be a drag racing vehicle meant set to compete in short 300-foot contests. It’s powered by a two-stroke, twin-cylinder engine that now makes 130 hp instead of the factory 30 hp max output, paired with a Overide 2-5 transmission that sends power to the rear wheels.
