Tesla Model X Autopilot Passenger Seat
Auto enthusiasts probably know that Tesla Autopilot is not intended to replace a human driver, but rather an advanced driver-assistance system with lane centering, traffic-aware cruise control, self-parking, automatic lane changes, semi-autonomous navigation on limited access freeways, and the ability to summon the car from a garage or parking spot. The driver is still fully responsible for the car and needs to maintain constant supervision. Read more for a video of a Tesla Model X owner who thought otherwise.

In the latest update, Traffic-Aware Cruise Control or Autosteer, rcognizes and responds to traffic lights as well as stop signs. This feature will slow and eventually stop for stop signs and all detected traffic lights. However, to continue through a green light, the user must push down the gear selector once or briefly press the accelerator pedal. Full self-driving capability is coming soon, and should be available as a beta before this year’s end.
