You can make just about anything with 3D printers nowadays, including sneakers. Called “The Cryptide”, this sneaker by German designer Stephan Henrich consists of a sole with an open design that has been combined and printed together with an upper shoe that resembles a sock. The creation was inspired by the mythical Cryptids, or fantasy creatures like Bigfoot or the Loch Ness monster. Read more for a video, additional pictures and information.
Unfortunately, there are no plans yet for every 3D printer, just the Sintratec S2 system with a single material, or the be more specific, the rubber-like Sintratec TPE elastomer. Why only this material and not other types of filament? The elastomer makes the Cryptide not only ergonomic but also comfortable to wear, which are both crucial for sneakers.
