The Infinity Bike Stephan Henrich Monowheel
Robotics designer Stephan Henrich recently unveiled his innovative Infinity Beach and City Cruiser, which boasts an innovative all-wheel design that resembles a futuristic monowheel of sorts. How does it work? Well, the bike propelled forward using its central wheel that cranks when pedaled to churn it in the right direction. Henrich partnered with Sintratec, a leading SLS 3D printing solutions company, to create a miniature prototype.

Since there’s only a single wheel, the bike is able to look like an infinity symbol, hence the name. This all-wheel drive bicycle is still in the planning stages, so there is no explanation yet on how it can safely turn, but Henrich says that information is coming sooner than later. The next step would be building a full-sized prototype that you can actually ride.

The Infinity Beach and City Cruiser is driven by a revolutionary monotire clip chain construction that automatically forms a temporary rim in the wheel area and a dented belt drive in the interior area. This monotire is propulsed by a central wheel getting its force by a crank over a short chain and a 8-speed gearbox,’ said Henrich.
