Toyota GR Corollla H2 Concept Super Taikyu Series 2024
It’s no Alpine Alpenglow Hy6, but the Toyota GR Corolla H2 concept is also powered by liquid hydrogen, but this vehicle actually raced in the BRIDGESTONE Round 7 Super Taikyu Final Fuji, which took place on November 16-17.

Unlike the previous model, this concept utilizes a powertrain with boil-off gas, or in other words, its entire liquid hydrogen system works by recovering and using boil-off gas as energy. That’s right, the boil-off gas released from liquid hydrogen in the tank is sent to a self-pressurizer, where it’s then converted back to usable hydrogen fuel for the engine by applying pressure. However, during this pressurization process for reusing boil-off gas, a certain amount of surplus boil-off gas is still released. That excess is fed into the small Toyota-developed fuel cell package (FC stack) and the hydrogen goes through a chemical reaction to generate electricity.

Boil-off gas that is not used in the electricity generation process is then converted into water vapor through a catalyst as before and safely released outside the vehicle. Toyota will continue to refine cars and people in the challenging world of motorsports and evolve together with its partners to achieve carbon neutrality,” said Toyota.
