Set to be revealed at the Japan Mobility Show on October 26, the Toyota KAYOIBAKO EV concept has a modular, shipping container-inspired design that aims to represent the future of hyper efficient transportation solutions. Its ultra-expandable design makes it simple to adapt to suit different roles, especially with the ability to fully customize the hardware and software.
For last-mile logistics use cases, KAYOIBAKO can help speed up smart distribution systems by allowing customization for efficient low-volume transportation. Local communities can use the EV as a pop-up shop of sorts by installing product display shelves or additional seating to serve as a city bus.

For private use, the vehicle can be customized according to individual tastes and preferences, evolving into a one-of-a-kind mobility. As well as catering to diverse personal uses and lifestyles, the KAYOIBAKO will also contribute to providing ‘Mobility for All’ by, for example, enabling designs that offer easier access for wheelchair users,” said Toyota.
