The company did flight test its SD-03 flying car prototype earlier this year, and it looks amazing to say the least. Measuring 9.5ft (2.9m) by 4.3ft (1.3m), the SD-03 is touted as the world’s smallest flying car and has a projected top flight speed of 100km/h (62mph), while traveling up to 10m (32.8ft) above ground.

SkyDrive and MLIT have been discussing how to safely develop and test this type of aircraft since the Public-Private Council to promote urban air mobility was launched in Japan in 2018 and SkyDrive received permission for the first outdoor test flight of its flying car. We are very pleased that our application for type certification has been accepted and we will continue to work in close partnership with the government and MLIT to complete our development of a wholly safe and reliable flying car,” said Tomohiro Fukuzawa, CEO, SkyDrive.
