The 2021 SEMA show in Las Vegas is kicking into high gear and the Chevy Beast is one of the most unique vehicles being showcased this week. Engineers started with a standard Silverado short-bed model and then modified it for high-speed desert running by shortening the frame before integrating a custom-designed, 4130 chromoly tubular safety structure, which was then wrapped with a custom, lightweight body. To ensure it can handle all terrain, the Chevy Beast was equipped with a long-travel off-road suspension system, complete with a five-link rear suspension, widened 91-inch track, and 20-inch beadlock wheels wrapped in 37-inch-tall off-road tires. The interior may look spartan, but it does have four Recaro performance seats sporting four-point harnesses, as well as a pair of 7-inch-diagonal LCD screens that monitor vehicle functions.
- This model car is a stunning replica of the iconic Ghostbusters car, the ECTO-1, based on the 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Futura Duplex
- The car features spookily good details: working steering, a trapdoor with a ghost trap, an extending gunner seat & a moving ghost sniffer
- A delight for adult Ghostbusters: Afterlife fans, it includes the Proton Pack, which swivels out of a side panel to trap ghouls and ghosts
There’s nothing else like The Chevy Beast. It delivers a ton of performance and capability, which makes it adept at conquering rough terrain — and it flat-out flies in desert running. The Chevy Beast concept sets a new standard for off-road performance,” said Jeff Trush, GM program manager, Pace Car and Specialty Show Vehicles.
