Remember the Volkswagen Golf GTI Roadster Concept from 2014? It can be found in Gran Turismo 6 and is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 engine generating 503 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission that sends power to all wheels.
Unlike the standard Volkswagen Golf GTI, the driver and passenger sit in a dual carbonfiber monocoque, while both sides are partitioned by an open bar that ascends from rear to front, complete with a fire extinguisher beneath it. There are two race-style buckets, placed low and a four-spoke grip steering, both covered with Alcantara. A cockpit display mounted directly to the steering column, far ahead of the driver, ensures an optimal viewing angle.

The Vision GT project offered a wonderful opportunity to sketch out extreme ideas and design elements of the GTI that are portrayed as vibrantly, dynamically and emotionally as possible. Further development of an unmistakable design and a love for detail reflect the high standards shared by the Volkswagen GTI and the ‘Gran Turismo’ by Sony PlayStation product brands,” said Klaus Bischoff, Head of Design at Volkswagen.
