A.L.I. Technologies Inc. plans to officially launch their flying hover motorbike by 2025 at the earliest, but ex-Major League Baseball (MLB) player Tsuyoshi Shinjo, nicknamed “Big Boss”, recently tested it in front of thousands at Sapporo Dome in Japan before a Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters game. This single-seat electric motorbike hovers utilizing propellers and travels several meters above the ground at up to 60 mph for up to 40-minutes. Read more for the video and additional information.
The XTurismo can also be used for search and rescue operations in disaster-hit areas, while Japan’s transport ministry are contemplating a legal framework for allowing such hover motorcycles to be used on public roads. Two caveats: the prototype can only fly for around 10-minutes on a full charge and the production version is expected to cost more than $650,000 USD when released.
