Tony Hawk has partnered with The Sandbox, a decentralized gaming virtual world, to create ‘Tony Hawk LAND’. This is touted as the ‘world’s biggest virtual skatepark’ where users will be able to create Tony Hawk avatar NFTs based on his most iconic skateboards, equipment, and apparel, including the iconic skateboard used to land the 900 at the X Games in 1999.
The Sandbox will then make these NFTs interoperable in its open metaverse as high-fidelity 3D voxel avatars, complete with in-game functionality for experiences. One thing you won’t find is the OneWheel Pint, a nifty one-wheeled electric skateboard. For those wondering, this isn’t The Sandbox’s first partnership, as they already have metaverse deals with Warner Music Group, Ubisoft, The Rabbids, Gucci Vault, The Walking Dead, Snoop Dogg, Adidas, Deadmau5, Steve Aoki, Atari, and more.

I have been a fan of new technology all of my life – from the first video games and home computers with CGI capabilities – so I am fascinated by the metaverse, and excited to bring our culture into the virtual landscape of The Sandbox,” said Tony Hawk.
