The DeLorean Alpha5 EV has nothing to do with John DeLorean nor the original DeLorean Motor Company. Kat DeLorean, the daughter of John DeLorean, wanted to make that clear, as the new company acquired the original brand’s name and trademarks in 1995. Her company DeLorean Next Generation Motors (DNG Motors) has just unveiled a new electric DMC-12 successor, called the Model-JZD.
Work on the Model-JZD is reportedly set to begin in January 2023 in Detroit, Michigan, but technical specifications have not yet been revealed. The prototype, which is being developed by some of the top automotive minds in the industry, along with a portion of the original team that helped create the first iconic DeLorean more than 40 years ago, should be ready by late next year at latest.
- Relive memories of Back to the Future with this Time Machine model car building kit with 3 versions - 1 for each movie in the iconic trilogy!

DeLorean Motor Company is not John DeLorean’s Company. DMC is not 40 years old, and not associated with the DeLorean Family, or my father’s ongoing legacy. Please stop lying and stop speaking about John now, he despised you,” said Kat DeLorean.
