We know that ChatGPT can code Flappy Bird, but what happens when you give it a modern makeover in Unreal Engine 5? Programmer Zaidadoo wanted to see what the mobile game would look like on modern consoles and came up with something that definitely works on the iPhone 15, Galaxy S23, etc.
It reportedly took programmer Dong Nguyen only three-days to create the original game back in 2013 using a bird model he designed for a canceled game. Many critics gave it poor reviews due to its high level of difficulty and allegedly repurposed graphics from classic Nintendo titles, but gamers loved its highly addictive gameplay. At Flappy Bird’s peak, the game earned Nguyen around $50,000 USD per day from ads alone, but Nguyen removed the game from both the App Store as well as Google Play on February 10, 2014 due to feeling guilty about its addictive nature. There’s just one caveat to this modern version: you’ll need to join Zaidadoo’s paid Discord server to try it out.
