Just like Pierre Dandumont, technology enthusiast Michael MJD has also managed to successfully install Mac On on the Nintendo Wii. This is possible due to the fact that the Wii’s PowerPC processor is similar enough to Apple’s Power Macintosh G3 chip, but the installation process is far more complex than simply inserting a software disc into the game console.
Since a hacked Nintendo Wii can run a Linux-based operating system through the unofficial Homebrew Channel, Mac-on-Linux can be installed to run under the OS. However, you’ll need a disk image of Mac OS 9.2 installed on an SD card. BootMii is then used to start Linux and then Mac OS 9.2, with the first issue being the missing startup sound. Let’s just say that Mac OS does not look visually pleasing at all running on the Wii. Still interested? You’ll can get Mac-on-Linux here.
