Logon Technology’s spherical RT-G robot has joined the police force in Wenzhou, China, and this 125-pound ball is remotely controlled by a human operator. Gyroscopic self-stabilization ensures a wide contact patch for maximum traction, regardless of terrain.
Multiple cameras, GPS navigation, and ultrasonic sensors, work together to help RT-G map the environment around it, while also avoiding rolling into people as well as other obstacles. In case of an emergency, the robot does come equipped with tear gas, smoke bombs, loud horns, acoustic crowd dispersers, and net shooters to take down perpetrators. There’s no word yet on if RT-G will be making an appearance in other cities.
