At first glance, Love Hulten’s NES-SY37 appears to be a music synthesizer with a touch of retrofuturism but insert a Nintendo Entertainment System cartridge in its slot, and you’ll realize that it’s also a functional video game console. It’s compatible with most standard controllers, including the NES Advantage arcade-style joystick, that can be plugged into the 7-pin port. Games can be enjoyed on the built-in 800 x 600 LCD, which is definitely an upgrade from the old CRTs.
For those interested in the music side of things, it’s essentially Love Hulten’s very own NES Poly Chiptune Synthesizer, complete with spring reverb, hapiNES L from Twisted Electronics (4 voice multi-track chiptune synth inspired by the RP2A07 sound chip) and a custom real-time MIDI visualizer by artist p1xelfool. Unfortunately, this is a one off project and there are no plans to sell this unique item, but if the right offer comes along, anything is possible.
