You’ve seen the history of Super Mario Kart, now check out Mario Kart 64 HD, a fan remake that adds high-resolution textures. Creating this mod involved replacing all of the old textures with new ones built from the ground up and it will run on a variety of emulators, including Dolphin.
This is still a work in progress, so things may not all look perfect, as the developers are still updating the textures before its final release. The project’s lead developer, Andrat, is already working on a new project, which will update all of the 3D models for Mario Party 2, originally released in 1999 on the Nintendo 64. Download it here now and you have the zip file, simply extract it, and then place everything inside that folder into a special hires_texture folder.
