Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit Nintendo Switch
Mario Kart fans rejoice! Nintendo has partnered with Velan Studios to bring you a new Mario Kart experience unlike any other. Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit for the Nintendo Switch is essentially a mixed reality (MR) game that combines a camera-enabled physical kart and course gate markers that transform any living space into an in-game circuit. Players can design / construct courses in the real world, and then race them in a mixed reality experience that blends the digital game world with the real life. How does it work? The physical kart responds to boosts in-game as well as the real world, stops when it’s hit and can also be affected in different ways depending on the race. Players place gates to create a custom course layout in their home with the only limit being their imagination. Race against Koopalings in Grand Prix to unlock various course customizations and costumes for Mario or Luigi. Enjoy the game with up to four players in local multiplayer mode. Set for launch on October 16th, priced at $99.99 in Mario or Luigi variants.

Our mission at Velan is to create breakthrough games that are magic. We invented the initial mixed reality hardware and game prototype to really nail the exhilaration of racing in the real world with the play and feel of a video game. We showed the experience to Nintendo and were thrilled they saw its potential. That started a wonderful multi-year creative collaboration, which became Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit. We can’t wait to see the creative ways fans play when they race around their own creations as Mario and Luigi,” said Karthik Bala, CEO, Velan Studios.
