It’s official, the Mercedes-AMG ONE is now the fastest production vehicle to lap Nurburgring Nordschleife with a time of 6:35.183 beating out the previous record holder, a Porsche 911 GT2 RS Manthey (6:43.300). Maro Engel, 24-Hour of Le Mans winner and DTM driver, was behind the wheel using the official start/finish line in section T13.
Power comes from a turbocharged 1.6L V6 engine with F1-derived technology, paired with four electric motors, that generate a combined 1,049 hp, mated to a 7-speed single-clutch automated manual transmission. Put simply, it’s a street-legal F1 car with a top speed of 217 mph. Two caveats: it’s limited to 275-units worldwide and costs $2.72-million, possibly much more considering the first production run is already sold out.

With the Mercedes-AMG ONE, we have more than pushed the envelope. The immense technical challenges of making a modern Formula 1 powertrain suitable for everyday road use have undoubtedly pushed us to our limits. Over the duration of the development period, many may have thought that the project would be impossible to implement. Nevertheless, the teams in Affalterbach and the UK never gave up and believed in themselves,” said Philipp Schiemer, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
