Microsoft transforms its Surface Duo dual-screen smartphone into a portable Xbox of sorts, or to be more specific, a controller for Xbox Cloud Gaming (xCloud). The company has just updated its Xbox Game Pass app for Android to improve support for custom touch controls on dual screen devices, enabling Surface Duo owners to use one of the screens as a controller. Currently, over 50 cloud-enabled games currently support touch controls. Read more for a video of the update from earlier this year showing the Surface Duo as a controller and additional information.
Sure, the touch controls may not be as accurate as using an actual Xbox controller, but Microsoft now lets developers create custom touch controls for every cloud-enabled Xbox game, which will make things more precise at the very least. For those who own a Surface Duo and want to use it to play Xbox games, you’ll need an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership to gain access to the entire catalog of cloud-enabled games.
