There’s the world’s largest motorcycle, and then this innovative hydrogen fuel cell-powered electric motorcycle built by the MIT Electric Vehicle Team. They hope this hydrogen-powered vehicle can one day be a clean alternative to pure electric, as they can be quickly refueled just like their petrol counterparts.
The team started with a frame sourced from a 1999 model year motorcycle, but with custom-made parts added to support the electric motor, hydrogen tank, fuel cell, and drivetrain. Figuring out how to mount everything in the limited space posed a challenge, but they found a few clever ways to do so without conflict.

We’re hoping to use this project as a chance to start conversations around ‘small hydrogen’ systems that could increase demand, which could lead to the development of more infrastructure. We hope the project can help find new and creative applications for hydrogen,” said Aditya Mehrotra, MIT Electric Vehicle Team Lead.
